One of the greatest barriers women face in sports and business is access—whether it’s a lack of resources, limited opportunities, or feeling unwelcome in traditionally male-dominated spaces. Studies show that nearly half of women were not offered sports like rugby or football in school, leading to lower participation rates in adulthood. Similarly, women hold only 10% of CEO positions in Fortune 500 companies, proving that challenges persist far beyond the athletic field.

 

At Reaux, we recognize that access goes beyond opportunity—it’s about confidence, comfort, and feeling empowered in every space where you train, compete, and lead. CEO, Sarah Ihle, mentions this gap in womenswear and how that was the angle she wanted to pursue at the beginning of her Reaux journey, but she didn’t feel like the market was really ready for that and how COVID-19 keeping everyone at home wasn’t the right time to launch such a prestigious collection.

 

Sarah mentions, “The options we have available for workwear are bleak and dismal; forget looking polished unless you’d like to spend a fortune on custom tailored pieces.” Sarah also mentions, “Women are multi-dimensional. We are more than just gym-goers; we are career-driven and want to look polished, and we are mothers who want to look put together. When we go out with our girlfriends, we want to look cute, but then zhuzh it up to be sexy on a date night. We have these different dimensions, and I don’t understand why our expectations to meet this evolution from marketplace brands who carry a ton of companies under their portfolio are so low. I want to and WILL fix that.”

The Confidence Factor: Style That Empowers

Confidence is the cornerstone of performance, yet many women feel discouraged by societal expectations surrounding strength, femininity, and leadership. At Reaux, we believe that your wear should elevate your confidence, not limit it. Sarah goes on to mention that when she worked at a bank as a young student, she always thought of her male colleagues as really sharp and put together, while her female colleagues, herself included, found it so difficult to find workwear that fit, looked tailored, and was affordable.  She continued that she always desired to design sleek, polished, professional attire for women that made people respect us.  People tend to over-sexualize women, so why give them another reason not to take us seriously or respect us by what we decide to wear to the office? 

 

Considering that womenswear and businesswear are such a hard pivot from sportswear, Sarah decided to focus her sportswear collection on higher-end fashion-forward pieces with extremely high-quality textiles, lines, and cuts to start conditioning purchasers for what they would be in for should they decide to invest in womenswear down the line when those collections launch. These are pieces and colors that you would have a difficult time finding on the market but would be a value addition to any woman’s wardrobe.
